I bought it because it was only ВЈ300, as opposed to ВЈ1000 for the latest A3 model.

I just got a GT 15000 second hand because I wish to do some non-commerical scanning of sizes larger than A4. I don't consider 2004 old when you consider the fact the scanner originally cost over ВЈ1000 and because I'm not a business making money out of the scanner, I don't have thousands of pounds spare at a moments notice. I like Macs but I don't like the fact that every that slightly older hardware is not supported. I speak as someone whose used Macs in 1996 and someone who comes from an industry where traditionally Macs were the computer of choice. I certainly think if I were a business I'd want to think very carefully before getting Macs. I know that is an exaggeration but I'd rather people err on the side of better not purchase that than spend at least a thousand pounds to only find everything else they have doesn't work.

I'm beginning to think I should be advising everyone not to get a Mac because they are liable to find that everything they ever use with their computer, unless it was bought this year, will not work. It seems that you are only allowed to use Lion if you are prepared to use that least external hardware. Especially as I doubt there is a solution from Epson that was previously missed. I know this is an old post but as my issue is the same, I thought I would revive it with my views, rather than start a new thread on the same topic. Has me second guessing the wisdom of migrating to the iMac. Perhaps with the new popularity of Apple products, and in particular the new iMac's, these manufacturers may take a second look at this kind of support. Unlike the Plustek Opticbook 3600 scanner which requires excessive, destructive handling, like most flat bed scanners. This is disappointing because as an Archivist, the 4670 excels for scanning rare books with minimal handling. Lion ignores my HP 4670, which works fine under Windows. I can get the GT-150 scanners sorta working by hiting their scan button, which provokes Lion to popup its generic minimal interface.

Similarly, the Plustek folks have no plans to write a Lion driver for their 3600 scanner. HP advise me they have no plan to write a Lion driver for their 4670 scanner, which by chance is a first rate scanner that for whatever reason, HP took it out of their product line. You are correct about the manufacturers failing to support Lion. Unfortunately, Lion sees the Snow Leopard driver as PowerPC, no longer supported, stops short, never to go again.
